Saving money on telephone bills

I have spent lot of money on cell phone bills sometimes nearly $400 per month. Once past the allowed free minutes any call during day time shoots up my cell phone bill. Most of these calls were unavoidable, particularly from home (abroad). I tried a number of calling cards but everything nearly failed. I only ended up paying more for both my cell phone as well as my calling card. Then I came to know about Vonage.

Vonage offers a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). It was really helpful for me. My parents and my relatives live abroad. I subscribed to vonage at a monthly rate of $33. It acts as a landline to me. I am no longer constrained to nights and weekends. I can call in day time without burning out my roll over minutes. we can speak to anyone for any number of hours and its totally free.

Most of us in US will have internet connection. To activate Vonage, we only need the internet connection. We can make unlimited calls to 60 countries. In addition to this usually they are offering first month free. So for me this is really freedom from all the cell phone tensions and saving money.
